Lakes values the strong support of our families, alumni, and community. Volunteer opportunities include mentoring, tutoring, participating in events and field trips, helping in the classroom, and more.
By June 2024, we will shrink the low-risk gap in overall reading performance between students who do and do not qualify for free meals from 22% (spring 2023) to 12%, according to easyCBM.
Social-Emotional Gap Goal
By the end of the 23-24 school year, the gap between low-income students and non-low-income students who are regular attenders will decrease by >10% from 18.67% to 8%.
Lakes Elementary was built in 1964 on 15.7 acres. It is located at 6211 Mullen Road SE in Lacey. The 47,005 square foot building includes 31 instructional spaces, plus 12 portable classrooms.
In 1990, the gymnasium was built.
In 1995, the HVAC system was upgraded and air quality improvements were made.
In 2000, a major modernization was completed using local bond and state assistance funds. The modernization included conversion of the existing play shed into a central kitchen and food services offices, as well as the addition of a new play shed attached to the existing gym. The parking lots and stormwater management system were also redesigned and reconstructed.
