Welcome to Lakes Elementary
We are the home of the Leopards and serve preschool through 5th grade in Lacey, WA. At Lakes, we are committed to doing our best to help each child reach his or her highest potential. We believe that students build their futures daily as they walk through our doors.

Goals & School Improvement Plan
Academic Gap Goal
By June 2025, we will decrease the gap in performance between students who do and do not qualify for free and reduced lunch on 3rd-5th grade English language arts SBA scores by 10%.
Social-Emotional Learning Gap Goal
By the end of the 2024-25 school year, the gap between low-income students and non-low-income students who are regular attenders will decrease by >10% from 24% to 14%.

Lakes values the strong support of our families, alumni, and community. Volunteer opportunities include mentoring, tutoring, participating in events and field trips, helping in the classroom, and more.
Building History
Lakes Elementary was built in 1964 on 15.7 acres. It is located at 6211 Mullen Road SE in Lacey. The 47,005 square foot building includes 31 instructional spaces, plus 12 portable classrooms.
- In 1990, the gymnasium was built.
- In 1995, the HVAC system was upgraded, and air quality improvements were made.
- In 2000, a major modernization was completed using local bond and state assistance funds. The modernization included conversion of the existing play shed into a central kitchen and food services offices, as well as the addition of a new play shed attached to the existing gym. The parking lots and stormwater management system were also redesigned and reconstructed.
